Postcard from Home - Mark Syke

“I tend to remember places I have lived or visited through nostalgic memories of its architecture landmarks. The buildings and places that reveal where you are in the world. Those that are often seen on postcards.

The Sydney Opera House is one such landmark. An unmistakable icon that one associates with home when returning from overseas.

This image is not the typical representation with the majestic sails and harbour scene. This image is more about the experience within the building. The scale and structure. The mood and materials. This is the postcard from home that I would send.

This building also has personal significance. The architect and architecture connects two cities that have been home to me – Sydney and Copenhagen.”
