 Tess is a commercial architecture and interiors photographer, based in Melbourne.

“When away from work, away from home, I will often have an old film camera with me, to capture moments, places and spaces of interest. I develop the film at home, though sometimes not for many months later. There’s always a different feeling of ease and intrigue involved in the creating of this type of imagery.

This photograph was taken during time I spent in Japan. A home for a while, away from home.
This photograph captures my impressions of a place, at a time. A simple yet complex landscape of layers. The layers of a country, culture, lives and history. The movement and then all of the stillness.

The intricate details that sometimes you have to be away, and not at home, to see."
